3 fun kid’s games to encourage learning

Kids are like sponges, soaking up information at every possibility. There’s no one way that a child learns. It depends on the individual. But one thing’s for sure: learning needs to be enjoyable.

‘Go and play with your toys’ is a common phrase in lots of households. But it doesn’t have to be something that just fills in the time or keeps your children occupied.

Introduce fun, educational activities for kids that blend learning and a dose of entertainment. Instill a lifelong love of learning from a young age. Based on their age, level of skill and interest, you can choose from a wide variety of educational activities.

Whether it’s reading, art, craft or maths activities, you can motivate your child to learn through games. They will pick up skills including communication, cooperation, problem solving, planning and strategy – even logical thinking and cause & effect.

Learning games for kids

  1. Scavenger hunt

Children are curious. You can use the scavenger hunt method in everyday life, like searching for a certain item at the supermarket or in the cupboard at home. Pretend you can’t find the orange juice or car keys. Send your child on a fun mission to find the items.

  2. Sing vocabulary words

Make up funny songs about rhyming words, counting or something you want them to learn. Sing in the car, while playing at home, and during their bath. Your child will learn through catchy, personal songs.

  3. Pin up pictures of family and friends

Keep pictures of friends and family on a bulletin board in your child’s room to develop word association and improve memory. Write people’s names on sticky notes (include titles such as “aunt,” “uncle,” and “cousin”) and put them at the bottom of each photo. Read books about brothers and sisters or aunt and uncles, and ask your child to identify each family member mentioned. As your child grows, extend the activity by creating a family tree with names and pictures. If you can, make this an ever-changing piece of artwork in your home.

Who said learning isn’t fun?

Learning doesn’t have to be boring, and a lot of people don’t realise there’s more to toys than keeping your kids occupied. Toys can teach plenty of useful lessons – You just need to decide what lessons you want your children to learn. You might even renew some skills of your own! Teach concepts such as logic and memory games, hand-eye coordination, words, numbers, animals, and languages.

We have all types of kids learning games – puzzles, play dough, science sets, learning blocks, books, number charts, music toys and more. Make learning fun with our one-of-a-kind educational toys.
